THINGS TO DO
Salisbury Cathedral
Salisbury Cathedral is probably the finest medieval building in Britain, with the highest spire at 123 meters and the best-preserved Magna Carta.
Stonehenge
Walk in the footsteps of your Neolithic ancestors at Stonehenge! One of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe.
Avebury
Avebury is the largest stone circle in the world. It is 427 meters in diameter and covers an area of some 28 acres. The great ring of 98 sarsen slabs encloses two smaller circles of 30 stones each.
Old Sarum
Old Sarum was originally a huge iron hill fort and was later occupied by the Romans and Saxons, and finally by the Normans, who built the Castle, Cathedral and Bishops Palace. Only in the 13th Century was the Cathedral moved to its current location.
Wilton House
Wilton House is home to the 17th Earl of Pembroke. This beautiful historic house is set in 21 acres of magnificent, landscaped parkland and is home to a world-famous art collection, situated in spectacular state rooms.
The Races
Enjoy a day at Salisbury's own Racecourse, which annually stages 16 Flat Race Meetings between April and October. Family fun days and evening meetings with entertainment are available.
